Batik Painting Pot Holder

This past weekend I attended a bridal shower where I noticed some handmade pot holders —

and I thought how perfect our 9″ Batik Paintings would be for this project!

In a previous post, we did a tutorial for Batik Painting Coasters, which can be altered

slightly to create beautiful Batik Painting Pot Holders! To make pot holders, we used

one of our 9″ Batik Paintings (instead of the 6″ mini painting used in the coaster tutorial)

and special heat insulating batting (instead of the standard batting used in the coaster tutorial).

To make Batik Painting Pot Holders, you will need:
1 – 9″ Batik Painting, cut to 8.5″ x 8.5″
5 – 8.5″ x 8.5″ squares of Cotton Batik
At least TWO layers of Insulated Batting cut to 8.5″ x 8.5″, I used Insul-Bright
Simply follow the same steps outlined here: Batik Painting Coaster Tutorial,

using the dimensions listed above and you’ll have a stunning Batik Painting

Pot Holder! You could also add some stitching to accentuate the design of the Batik Painting you’re using.

***A note about the insulated batting: on the Insul-Bright batting,

there is a shiny side and a regular side. Make sure you place the

shiny side of both pieces facing outward (regular sides inward facing each other).

The shiny side does the insulating! ***

And here is the finished product, which I added some quilt stitching to:
